The VEX Team
Saints Robotics is highly involved in VEX, having started the first VEX team in the 2008-09 season. The program was originally created to give freshmen and new members another opportunity to participate building a robot and gain experience before participating in the FIRST Robotics Competition. The VEX team qualified for the World Championship hosted in Dallas for the 2008-09 season, where they placed fifth place. Due to this extraordinary success, VEX has now become an important part of the club with over a dozen participants.

This year, the team has continued the Saints Robotics tradition of encouraging members to participate in learning and building a high quality machine. The team has taken a more organized structure, led by Larry and Franklin, in addition to a programming, scouting, and build team. The team’s exceptional driving skills and quick troubleshooting contributed to their first place win in the 2009-10 Washington State Jump Start tournament, once again earning them a qualification to attend the Worlds competition on April 22-24, 2010 in Dallas, Texas.
In the more recent Washington VEX Championships, the team was a semifinalist alliance captain, while in the Sandy High competition, they were the finalist alliance captain. They have submitted entries for the VEX Design Challenges. The team’s last competition this season will be the World Championships in Dallas. We look forward to seeing you there!
