The build team, headed by Dennis Liao, specializes in the prototyping and construction process of creating our robots.

The Goals of the Build Team

Most of Saints Robotics’ activities rotate around the Build Team, which is in charge of prototyping robot designs during the year and creating the robot to participate in the annual FIRST Robotics Competition. This includes designing and building the chassis of the robot, choosing and integrating wheel designs, building the different mechanical parts and working alongside the Electronics Team and Programming Team to create a successful robot.

Our goals are not only to make a competitive robot for the competition, but also to accomplish seemingly unrelated objectives. We are a club that puts the focus on the students and how to teach them a new set of skills. These are not just robotics skills but teamwork, problem solving and gracious professionalism amongst the pleasure gained in creating a successful robot. Our officers are not the only teachers for the students but also our mentors, who make it possible for the other members to learn as well. With their experience of robotics, electronics and overall years of practice they are an asset to making Build possible.
