The FIRST Robotics Competition

Today marks the first day of the FIRST Robotics Competition. It was a busy day of tweaking the robot, helping other teams, passing inspections and scouting.

We are looking forward to Day 2 of the competition tomorrow. Here are the latest pictures of Saints Robotics.

Sunday 3/6 Meeting

We are holding an emergency meeting tomorrow 3/6.

Three students went to the practice field with our chassis and drove it around. It takes us 22 seconds to get from one end of the field to the feeder station, “pick up” a tube, and then head back to our rack.

We will be attaching the second arm to our robot tomorrow, and we will be meeting from 10am-8pm at Mr. Harman’s house (don’t go if you have allergies!)

Thanks!

News Email Notification

Later, we will release the wordpress plugin for the public to download and use.

Meeting Update [READ: CAD]

There will be no meeting on Friday Dec. 17 because the janitors leave early as it is the last day before break.

To make up the lost meeting time, we will be having an extended meeting this Wednesday (tomorrow). The meeting will last until 4:00 pm. Please make necessary arrangements; we understand that this is short notice, but try your best to stay the entire time.

For those interested in CAD, Larry will be holding the preliminary CAD session on Wednesday instead of Friday. Bring your laptops with CAD installed (instructions can be found on the forums under Documentation). We will set up another meeting date over holiday break.

Pasta Dinner Reminder

Another friendly reminder to start getting in pasta dinner money to Larry! Don’t lose the tickets; if someone shows up with a ticket not paid for, the student who checks out the ticket WILL be responsible for paying if the patron does not.

All volunteers for the pasta dinner should show up on Wednesday ready for a “dress rehearsal” of the dinner. Of course, you don’t need to wear formal attire etc, but be there!

Finally, a flyer is being sent out to parents. Ask them to post it up on a bulletin at their work place!

Thanks!
-Larry

Pasta Dinner Update

First, please tell Larry as soon as possible a confirmed number of people you’re bringing! $8 for students and $10 for adults for preordered tickets, and get the money to him as soon as possible! You can contact him via facebook or MSN (larry.penguin@hotmail.com).

Also, in case the need arises: Children aged 5 or under eat FREE WITH ACCOMPANYING ADULT. If you have family members or people you’re inviting with toddlers or babies, they need not be worried about their children having to pay the student cost. However, they should be aware that the serving size will be smaller than that for students (obviously).

We will be discussing what to wear for people serving food. It might not be formal.

Thanks,
Larry
