Our website is built on WordPress—a CMS (content management system) coded in PHP. The theme is based off a theme called iNove but, extreme modifications have been made to this theme, so it looks very different from the default theme. This new theme is called Betamon and is made by Joshua Li, the web officer.

Media

Our extensive media gallery contains the best photos, videos, and graphics of the media team, and shows the inner workings of Saints Robotics.  The many aspects of the robotics team are depicted throughout the photo gallery, while our videos bring out the best of Saints Robotics.

Standards

The Saints Robotics website is mostly XHTML compliant. Our css is also valid CSS. Although we value standards a lot, usability and compatibility is more important. Having our website work correctly is more important than standards. Our website is compatible with IE6+ and works nice in all other major browsers.

Custom Coding

This website is made through a lot of custom coding by the web team. Although we are using WordPress and our theme is based off another theme, we made a lot of custom edits. The Saints Robotics logo on the website that glows is custom made in actionscript 3. In addition, the slideshow on our home page was created with Flash. The slide show was designed from scratch and used pure actionscript, consisting of over 400 lines in a reusable class! This coding was all done by the web team who worked countless hours fixing each and every little bug that popped up. We plan to release the source code for the slide show after cleaning it up so that other teams will also be able to use it.
