This is an announcement to SR Members that there will be no meeting tomrrow, Wednesday 18th. Mr. Cooney is sick, and Mr. Moore can’t come, so we don’t have an advisor for our club on that day.
Just wondering – who here is interested in VEX Robotics? I showed people the video on Sunday and Monday at the Robotics meetings, and Redmond Robotics came to STI Optronics to show us their VEX robots last Monday. See the video on youtube. Post a comment on this if you’re interested!
hehe… cute little spastic toys they got there… eh sure why not?
Looks really cool and I am assuming that you mean for next year.
But if a separate robot is made, wouldn’t that take time away from the main robot?
Yea sure vex robotics seems really cool. Its a good past time while we wait for FIRST to come up.
The VEX robots would be fairly cheap ($500-800) and we could have smaller teams (of 5-10) people. They’re really small robots. If we have enough really interested people, there’s a competition at Redmond High on March 14th – and we could possibly make it if we work hard. I would be all for it – I actually just ordered a kit for myself to play around with.
Personally I prefer large robots, but the VEX robots could be a little something we work with on the sidelines. I think that if we get into the VEX robots, we should wait until next year to enter a competition.
sure. i think it sounds interesting =D
but i think that if we’re going to work on it, we should focus on it for the time being
(a.k.a. until the competition)
i personally think it’d be kinda pointless if we work on it and then don’t compete
I also object to working on Vex robots right now. We have a whole bunch of other things to do, and we still have to finish our omni bot if we can. Also, it would be really hard to get all of the parts for the vex robot in time, and build it that fast.
We also have no experience building it… I am all up for it after the competition as a side project that we could work on before summer break, but right now is not a good time in my opinion.
